PLUTA – a Dynamic Enterprise

Mr Michael Bremen has passed the baton on to the next generation. At the beginning of 2022, he handed over the reins of PLUTA’s Düsseldorf and Aachen branch offices to attorneys Mr Christoph Chrobok and Dr Uwe Paul

Mr Sebastian Laboga became a managing partner of PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH on 1 January 2022. The experienced attorney, a managing director and partner of PLUTA, has been in charge of the branch offices in Berlin, Bochum, Dortmund, Essen and Erfurt since early 2020.

Dr Karl von Hase joined the Düsseldorf branch office of restructuring company PLUTA as a partner on 1 January 2022. Together with his team, the experienced attorney for general law and specialist attorney for commercial and corporate law will contribute extensive experience to PLUTA’s legal consulting business. He will be supported by attorney Dr Julia Weiler-Esser, who also joined the company at the beginning of the year. Dr von Hase and Dr Weiler-Esser have already worked together in the past.

With immediate effect, the PLUTA branch office in Aachen can be contacted at a new address: it is now located at Grüner Weg 1 in 52070 Aachen, on the northern edge of Aachen city centre. The telephone and fax numbers remain the same.

The PLUTA restructuring company will also admit external professionals and business partners to the PLUTA Academy from 2022 onwards. In advance of this, an initial event on the consequences of the German Corporate Stabilisation and Restructuring Act (StaRUG) was already held for lenders today.

German business magazine FOCUS has released its ninth list of top corporate law firms, which recognises the best law offices and attorneys in Germany each year. PLUTA has now been named a ‘Top Corporate Law Firm’ among law offices with a multidisciplinary practice in 2021 for the first time. The corporate law firms mentioned represent the crème de la crème of the industry.

The PLUTA restructuring company has added another three partners to its ranks: Dr Ruth Rigol, Ms Heike Metzger and Mr Markus Fünning. This brings the number of partners at PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH to 24.

Mrs Anna Bodner has completed her three-year paralegal apprenticeship at PLUTA with excellent results. The 28-year-old, who is based in PLUTA’s Koblenz branch office, has ranked in the top three trainees in the higher regional court district of Koblenz. Mrs Bodner works in insolvency administration, supporting case handlers and administrators.

Mr Ilkin Bananyarli, a partner of PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH, has been awarded the seal of quality from Gravenbrucher Kreis e.V. (“Gravenbruch Circle”), a German association of insolvency administrators. The restructuring expert, who has already amassed more than 16 years of experience in his field, is now the second PLUTA attorney after Mr Michael Pluta to receive this seal of quality. Only 39 attorneys have been awarded this certification to date.

The PLUTA restructuring company has again been the recipient of multiple awards. The firm has won the Corporate Intl Magazine Global Award in the ‘Restructuring Law Firm of the Year in Germany – 2021’ category. Corporate Intl recognises companies that are global leaders in various fields. In addition to specialist knowledge, performance is also a decisive factor.

PLUTA has been successfully cooperating with partners around the world as a member of BTG Global Advisory (BTG GA) – an international network of restructuring and insolvency experts – for many years. The whole network is now set to benefit from the network partner in the UK, the Begbies Traynor Group, having completed its largest acquisition in the insolvency arena to date. The takeover of law firm CVR Global will allow Begbies Traynor to expand in England. It will also further enhance its expertise and offering in the areas of corporate restructuring and consulting.

PLUTA continues to consolidate its position throughout Germany: the restructuring company opened a branch in Darmstadt in January 2021. With this new office in South Hesse, PLUTA is strengthening its presence in the Rhine-Main region and ensuring that yet another locality will benefit from its first-class insolvency administration and restructuring consultancy services. The new branch is located at Ludwigsplatz 6, 64283 Darmstadt.

Global Restructuring Review (GRR), a trade journal that covers restructuring and insolvency law, has again recognised PLUTA this year, naming it one of the world’s top 100 restructuring firms. This is the fourth time that the list has been published.

PLUTA has been a member of BTG Global Advisory – an international network of restructuring and insolvency experts – for several years. The group has extended its global presence with an office in Mexico: two network members based in the USA and Brazil have partnered to open B. Riley Advisory Services de Mexico.

PLUTA’s Paderborn branch is relocating. From 1 September 2020, it will be centrally located at Bahnhofstr. 31b, 33102 Paderborn. The PLUTA team will work from the fourth floor of the new office building.

WirtschaftsWoche, a leading German business magazine, has again listed PLUTA as a 2020 Top Law Firm in the fields of insolvency law and restructuring. Moreover, three PLUTA restructuring experts have been ranked among the finest legal professionals. WirtschaftsWoche regularly honours Germany’s best law firms and attorneys in the areas of insolvency and corporate restructuring.

Mr Marcus Katholing was appointed managing director of PLUTA Management GmbH on 2 July 2020.

PLUTA’s Bremen branch has relocated. The team under Dr Christian Kaufmann can now be found in the Bömers Spitze office block at the gateway to Bremen’s Überseestadt district. The new address is: An der Reeperbahn 2, 28217 Bremen. The telephone and fax numbers remain the same.

Dr Hubertus Bartelheimer, a lawyer and restructuring consultant from Berlin, and his five-strong team will join the restructuring company PLUTA with effect from 1 March 2020. This means that the law firm, which is active throughout Germany, is continuing to grow and above all is strengthening its consultation business.

The PLUTA branch office in Stuttgart is now located in the city centre. The restructuring experts and attorneys have moved to the Volksbank building at Börsenstrasse 3, 70174 Stuttgart. More than 30 employees are working across three floors in modern and completely renovated offices.
